Temple Surprise

Today (1/31/09) we were able to go to the temple and go through a session. It was great as always. I love the temple, and also it just so happened that all of the young men and women from the ward of Casuarinas were there!!! I got to see one of my converts who was doing baptisms for the dead - how sweet is that!?!?!? I was stoked, it was the daughter of Guido Palomino (see picture below), and also people from Villa Sol were there. The bishop and his counselors and many more!! I’m sad because I didn’t get any pics, but it was great to see them.

House of the Lord

Last Saturday, for our P-day, we went to the temple. This time we got in, and it was good. I loved it. I felt really good.

Note to Grandparents: I went to the temple today and I had a great time, I can't imagine going there as often as you guys do, what a blessing. I have a plan to assist every week when I get home.

Why was the temple so busy yesterday? "Today we went to the temple, we were going to go in and do a session, BUT we kinda forgot it’s a holiday and there was more than 200 people there, so needless to say we didn’t go."

A member invited the missionaries to lunch, and took them to a Columbian Restaurant. Here's what Elder Rich had to say about that "It is soooo good. All the food in South America is good. I swear that’s all I'll eat when I get home. I will be fat fat fat."

The Earthquake - "We got back here (to the offices) around 3:30pm and guess what happened? An earthquake!!! Not a very big one, but big enough to set off all the car alarms on the street, and to make all the dogs bark in the whole town, and to make everyone leave their houses. It was all good… not a very big one… only like 15 seconds long."

Some Good Advice, "Always wear a smile and make the day of someone else. Open your mouth and help someone different everyday."

P-day at the Temple and Circuito de Agua

Today we went to the temple and it was a great day. I was really excited because I really need it. I love the temple.



Then we went to the fountains. It’s a place where they have a water rocket show with lights and everything. It was good. I have some pics I'll get to you. I guess it is one of the biggest water parks, as far as fountains, in the world. You will understand when you see the movies and pics. I am pretty tired tonight.



Lima has a new attraction (August 2007) in Circuito de Agua, Parque de la Reserva, it is a 12 fountain complex, the biggest in the world (Guinness Book). In this complex, there are geysers that spill the water up to 80 meters high, and laser lights combined with music, also the fountains create amazing water figures mixed with colorful lights, making a spectacular view and a wonderful show.

A Visit to the Temple

Today was good.(08/23/08) We went to the temple (the missionaries in the offices) and it was great. It's been about 5 months since I have been, so it was good to get a reminder and I can almost get through it perfectly, in Spanish, so that’s cool. I'm happy, I learned 3 new things about the temple in the session today. That was my goal, to learn something new.

New Companion - Working Hard

"I’m with a new companion, Elder Vargas. He has 10 months in the mission. He was in my zone already, so I know him. It’s great, he is from Bolivia, lives with his grandpa, and those two are the only members (in his family). He is 26, and was baptized when he was 14. "

"We are working hard, and we can tell the difference. We have ten baptism dates, it’s awesome! And more to come too! The Polanco family (mom & dad) told me that I will be baptizing them within this change (next 5 weeks)."

"We’re finding new people to teach everyday, and working hard with the members, and it shows.... and that’s only in 4 days work! Think what we can do with 5 more weeks, huh? Pretty sweet. I’m excited."

To the Temple

Landon went to the Lima Peru Temple today. Here are some interesting facts about some of our temples, and also some FAQ's. Also, some more pictures taken that day.

Recent Ramblings from Peru

Landon has been to the temple in Lima, and loved it. He particularly likes Elder Ruiz, a native Latino from Iquitos, they have become close. Landon and his companion Elder Woolf are working well together, and help to keep each other focused. I found out from Elder Woolf's letter to HIS mom, that they are teaching 3 lessons a day in Spanish, and this helps the language come along. Landon was able to meet another "Morganite" the other day. Elder Jason Johnson (Mark and Connie's son) who is also in the PLN mission was at the CCM to interpret for an elder who went to the doctor. That was a nice surprise for both of them. Landon says they will not celebrate Thanksgiving down in Peru, it will be just another day. He loves the leader of the CCM, President Crayk, and says he is an awesome guy. Landon also learned that the Peru Lima North area is the poorest in all of Peru. This will surely humble him. Landon always ends each letter with these words, "I love you both and all the family.. all is well..."
