Why was the temple so busy yesterday? "Today we went to the temple, we were going to go in and do a session, BUT we kinda forgot it’s a holiday and there was more than 200 people there, so needless to say we didn’t go."

A member invited the missionaries to lunch, and took them to a Columbian Restaurant. Here's what Elder Rich had to say about that "It is soooo good. All the food in South America is good. I swear that’s all I'll eat when I get home. I will be fat fat fat."

The Earthquake - "We got back here (to the offices) around 3:30pm and guess what happened? An earthquake!!! Not a very big one, but big enough to set off all the car alarms on the street, and to make all the dogs bark in the whole town, and to make everyone leave their houses. It was all good… not a very big one… only like 15 seconds long."

Some Good Advice, "Always wear a smile and make the day of someone else. Open your mouth and help someone different everyday."

Today's Terremoto

In today's email, Landon said they went to the temple, but were not able to get in a session. There were over 200 people there! Afterwards, they ate at a Columbian restaurant which was very good, and then they went back to the office and "were in for a treat" (his words) and got to feel a Terremoto. He said it wasn't as strong as the one last April, but it did cause people to leave their homes and gather in the street.

"We had 2 earthquakes last Saturday (March 29th). One at 1 am in the morning (which wasn't very big), it just woke us up and nothing more. But then at about 8am that morning, we were just getting back into our rooms from breakfast and bam. It hit again, and it was strong, haha. It was like nothing I have ever felt in my life."

"We hurried down the 3 floors (to the street) and on the second floor our pension was getting her kids out, and same with our (landlord) owner, (she) was getting her family out. So we got out into the street, and it was just starting to quite down, and I looked up and down our street, and everyone was outside their houses in just boxers (underwear) and blankets, it was funny. But no worries, all is well. A little bit of concrete fell from our roof, it's all good."

Things are shaking in South America

A powerful earthquake shook the border region between Ecuador and Peru . It is not reported if there are injured or damage.

The magnitude 6.7 quake was felt throughout Ecuador and in northern Peru . The U.S. Geological Survey said it was centered about 234 kilometers (151 miles) south-southeast of Guayaquil , Ecuador's largest city and its main port.

Peruvian Civil Defense officials told Lima radio station Radioprogramas that the quake was felt strongly in cities in northern Peru but there were no reports of damage.

The quake came after a magnitude-7.7 temblor shook northern Chile on Wednesday, killing two people, injuring more than 150 and leaving 15,000 homeless.

Strong aftershocks continued to rattle Chile on Thursday, with one tremor measuring magnitude 6.2 and another magnitude 6.8, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Chile's, Peru's and Ecuador's Pacific coastlines all lie along the intersection of the Nazca and South American tectonic plates, one of the world's most seismically active regions.

I talked with Tammy Bullock this morning, and she said that they had let all of the missionaries in Peru call their parents to reassure them. Lawson told her that they were without power for two days, but everything is back on and back to normal. He said the scariest/wildest part was seeing all of the electric transformers blowing up and sparking everywhere. The missionaries in the Lima Peru North Mission have not been called on to help in the southern part of the country. They are tracting and teaching as normal. Lawson also said that he LOVES his new mission president, President Carlos A. Perez Basso, who is a native of Uruguay.

Jose' Garcia, Landon's friend from TVCC, texted him last night, to tell him about this. He had heard it on a Spanish radio station. We looked for it on the internet and local news stations here, but didn't find any news until this morning.Check out this article
